You can improve your stream's quality by using the Larix Broadcaster phone app in HEVC mode.
HEVC is advanced video compression that allows great looking 720p streams with bandwidths as low as 1Mbit. (Larix, Mevo, and GoPro default to the industry standard H.264 over RTMP, which requires a connection of 2Mbit or greater for 720p.)
Larix Broadcaster is free to use when using normal H.264 compression, but (as of May 22, 2023) charges $9.99/month to use HEVC compression.
If you have not set up your device to broadcast to sidelineHD, follow these steps first.
Changing Larix to use HEVC compression
These steps assume that you have already streamed to sidelineHD via your Larix Broadcaster app. If not, follow these steps first.
1. Open Larix Broadcaster and tap the Gear button
2. Select Video
3. Adjust your video settings as follows:
No other steps are required. When you stream live, you can monitor the quality of your connection by looking at the lower left hand corner.
If you stream warning text messages, follow the steps above to access the video window and change to a lower resolution as directed.
