We understand that the fast pace of a volleyball match can prove a bit difficult to keep up with when scoring. With sidelineSCORE for volleyball, you can keep scoring basic or making it as advanced as you'd like with additional scoring and tagging options.
In this article, we'll lay out both basic volleyball scorekeeping and advanced volleyball scorekeeping with sidelineSCORE; as well as setting your lineup during a match!
If you're just getting started or simply looking to quickly score your game, we suggest checking out our Basic Scoring option. Keep it simple by just keeping score!
If you're looking for additional scoring and tagging options to get a more detailed experience, we suggest checking out our Advanced Scoring option. Tag those memorable moments like Aces, Kills, Blocks and more!

Setting a Lineup During Match:
- Login to your sidelineHD account
- Select the Team Card
- Select the Game Card for the game you are scoring
- If you have not created the game yet, create the game now
- Select Start Game
- Towards the top of the page, select a ? placeholder on the court
- Your roster will appear below, tap on a player's name to assign them to this spot on the court
- Continue to do this for all spots on the court
- You can make changes as needed
- Next you'll need to add a Libero (if using one). Select the Settings tab in the bottom of the controller
- You'll see Liberos pop up with a drop down option. Select any players that will be used as a Libero
- Once selected, press Score at the bottom of the page to take you back to the score controller
- Now when you tap a spot on the court to select a players' name you should see a red L next to their name
Now that your lineup is set, you're ready to score!!
Basic Scoring:
- Login to your sidelineHD account on the app
- Click on the Team Card of the team that you are going to score for
- On the Schedules tab of the team page, select the Game Card for the game you are scoring
- If you have not created the game yet, create the game now
- Select Start Scoring
- Select if you are the Home or Away team
- Select the Volleyball icon in the left corner next to the team on the score controller serving the ball
- Select Ball Served when the ref blows the whistle, signaling the server to begin the serve
- Increase the score for the team that scored the point by tapping the + under their score
- Repeat steps 6 - 8 for every serve and point scored until the end of the set
- Once the set ends, select End Set 1
- For additional sets, repeat steps 6 - 10
- Once the game ends, select Exit Scoring

Select End game
- If the game has not ended, select Pause scoring
- Ending the Game is final and cannot be undone
Advanced Scoring:
In Advanced Scoring, you will utilize Ace, Kill, and Block to increase your score instead of the +.
You can also use Assist, Dig, and Highlight as detailed tags for your clips. These options will not increase the score.
- Login to your sidelineHD account on the app
- Click on the Team Card of the team that you are going to score for
- On the Schedules tab of the team page, select the Game Card for the game you are scoring
- If you have not created the game yet, create the game now
- Select Start Scoring
- Select if you are the Home or Away team
- Select the Volleyball icon in the left corner next to the team on the score controller serving the ball
- Select Ball Served when the ref blows the whistle, signaling the server to begin the serve
- Increase the score for the team that scored the point
- If the opponent scores
- Increase the point in their box by pressing the + under their score
- If your team scores
- Increase the point by selecting +Ace, +Kill, or +Block
- Select the player(s) from above who completed the action
- Example Ace: Tap Ace, score advances, credit goes to the server
- Example Kill: Player 4 is going to score on a Kill, press Kill and tag player 4
- Example Block: Players 5 and 6 will team up to score the block. Press Block, and tag players 5 and 6, and the score advances.
- If the opponent scores
- Repeat steps 6 - 8 for every serve and point scored until the end of the set. This time try to tag an Assist, Dig and +Highlight as they happen!
- Select Assist, Dig or +Highlight
- Select the player(s) from above who completed the action

Example Assist: Let's tag the assist for player number 5, press Assist, and tag player 5
It's worth noting that you can tag the assist before or after the kill; it's your preference. -
Example Dig: Press Dig and tag the player(s) involved in the dig.
You can tag a dig as many times as you want during a rally for multiple players -
Example Highlight: Press Highlight, and tag the Player 1 and Player 2
The Highlight button is a great way to tag multiple players during a rally, something you want to remember, such as a great play that didn't result in a score.

Example Assist: Let's tag the assist for player number 5, press Assist, and tag player 5
- Once the set ends, select End Set 1
- For additional sets, repeat steps 6 - 11
- Once the game ends, select Exit Scoring

Select End game
- If the game has not ended, select Pause scoring
- Ending the Game is final and cannot be undone
SLHD TIP:
If you miss a tag during the match, you can go back and tag post-match!
