SidelineHD is pre-calibrated to work with most cameras and setups and is able to use synchronized time information for our live scoreboards.
If scoreboard updates or Radar readings appear to change before the action happens or seem off, you may have a time synchronization issue. Follow the directions in this article to make any necessary adjustments.
Calibrating Video / Time:
Check Your Mobile Device Clocks
When streaming with sidelineHD and using integrated apps and devices, accurate clocks and timestamps are important. Without accurate clocks and timestamps, overlays such as scoreboards and radar readings, may present at incorrect times.
To check how accurate your mobile device's clock is, we suggest visiting https://time.is. Here you will see how accurate your device's time is compared to your timezone down to the millisecond.
If your clock is not in-sync with the correct time, we suggest restarting your device as well as double checking your device's timezone. For reference:
Pocket Radar Sports App and Stalker Radar app must have clock within 0.25 seconds of actual time
-
Your streaming device, sidelineHD app and iScore app must have clock within 1 second of actual time
Time-Sync Test Your Video
You may need to tune your timing settings if:
Your video goes to another streaming service before it goes to sidelineHD (Restream, Vimeo Producer multi-destination).
-
You use an intermediate video switching device (OBS, ATEM Mini Pro, Mevo multi-cam).
We suggest trying to troubleshoot these issues by recording a short live broadcast. Set up a test as follows:
-
Go live to your typical sidelineHD setup in your usual way
- Make sure to use the same equipment/apps and connection (cellular or hotspot) as you would use on game day. The goal is to recreate your streaming environment as closely
- Aim your camera at this web page: https://time.is
-
Record 90 seconds of content
- Enough to see the clock overlay tick forwards by one minute
-
Watch your video
- The overlay clock (top-left of the screen) should tick forward with or just slightly (0-1s) AFTER the clock on your computer screen advances
- View a video of a successful test here
Adjust Overlay Time Offset
If your video sync needs adjustment, you can adjust the timing of overlays and clips.
- Stop your camera's stream to sidelineHD
- Login to your sidelineHD account
- Select your Team Card
- At the top right of your team page, select Settings
- Select Stream Setting
- Select Camera Settings
- Select Advanced Settings
-
Under Overlay time offset, adjust your overlays as needed
- Select the + to shift the overlays forward in time
- Select the - to shift the overlays backwards in time
-
Select Save
